Kimud Shoal
14–20m
A shoal roughly 45 minutes by boat from Malapascua (near Leyte), now the primary thresher shark cleaning-station site since the sharks relocated here from Monad Shoal in September 2022. Shallower and with better visibility than Monad; managed as a Marine Protected Area and Ecotourism Zone.

An underwater plateau with cleaning stations, historically the primary thresher shark site — sightings there dwindled from September 2022 as tiger sharks began regularly patrolling it, and the thresher sharks relocated to nearby Kimud Shoal.
When to go
One of very few places in the world with a reliable early-morning thresher shark encounter, at a seamount requiring a pre-dawn boat trip.
