Brissare Rocks
10–30m
A granite outcrop roughly midway between Mahé and Praslin, its pinnacles rising to within a few metres of the surface — walls covered in sea fans and soft corals, large moray eels, and schooling snappers. A more sheltered, moderate-current profile than Shark Bank; day-boat accessible, no liveaboard required.
Shark Bank
18–40m
A submerged granite plateau/seamount roughly 8km NW of Mahé, between Mahé and Silhouette Island — the single most famous shark-encounter site off Mahé, with strong, often unpredictable currents in open water. Day-boat from Beau Vallon/Victoria; also visited by Inner Islands liveaboard itineraries, though a liveaboard is not required.
