The Wall

6–40m

A drop-off starting in shallow water (~8-10m) close to shore along Grand Turk's leeward side, the reef crest dropping to a true 2,000m+ wall face (recreational dives stay in the ~10-30m range). Reachable by a short day-boat ride from Cockburn Town; no liveaboard visits this site. Caribbean reef sharks, hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, and Nassau grouper are commonly reported here.

When to go

A wall drop-off beginning remarkably close to shore, along the Columbus Passage — a channel humpback whales pass through on their Jan-Apr migration toward the Silver Bank breeding ground. That whale season is real, but it is a separate boat-based (occasionally in-water snorkel) excursion, not a scuba product: Turks and Caicos prohibits scuba diving with the whales, so no whale encounter is offered on the Wall dive itself.
